Week 10 Fantasy Surprises and Disappointments

Believe it or not, its already Week 10 of the NFL season.  Whether you're comfortably ahead or struggling to catch up with the rest of your league, it's still as important as ever to manage your roster.  So, with the exception with tonight's Raiders-Chargers game (If you haven't set your lineup with those players... you're late) I'll go through my predications of some important players you should start, sit and even add to your roster to help you win this week and the rest of the season.

1. Tim Tebow, QB Broncos - START/ADD
You get extra points for great biceps, right?

Yes, he's unorthodox...but he's not a bad fantasy quarterback.  The matter of fact is not many players can still put up 24 fantasy points (ESPN standard scoring) while only throwing for 124 yards.  Tebow's ability to run the option, and more importantly be effective between the tackles and in short yardage situations make him a dangerous fantasy weapon most weeks.  Add the fact that he will be facing a Chiefs defense that is 21st against opposing quarterbacks this year, and Tebow could have a monster game.  (Remember, they gave up 24 points to Matt Moore last week)  If Tim can find a way to get the passing game remotely going, watch out.  Unless you have a 'must start' quarterback, definitely look at going with Tebow.

2. Jordy Nelson, WR Packers - START

Nelson has been having a solid year with the Pack, scoring a touchdown just about every other week, and things are only looking up for the cheese-head.  Week 10 means the Minnesota Vikings are coming to Lambeau for a Monday Night game.  Fortunately for Nelson, that means he will be facing one of the weakest secondaries in the NFL.  With Rodgers playing arguably better than anyone in the league right now, the Packers should have a field day.  Although there are plenty of weapons Rodgers can utilize, expect them to have the ball enough to get everyone involved.

3.  Marshawn Lynch, RB Seahawks - SIT

The look of a champion

Despite a solid game against the Cowboys in week 9 (135 yards and a TD), Lynch is a 'must sit' in my books for Week 10.  Given his matchup, this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.  The Ravens are 2nd best in fantasy against opposing running backs, and they have only given up more than 15 points in a game once (in week 2).  Moreover, Lynch isn't incredibly talented, and a lackluster passing attack wont help open up the running game.  Against a hard-nosed Ravens D, he shouldn't be in your starting lineup.

4.  Chris Johnson, RB Titans - START

Despite being one of the, if not the most disappointing players in fantasy football this year, Chris Johnson may finally come through for owners this week.  He's coming off a solid game against the Bengals, where he easily got more carries than backup Javon Ringer.  While Johnson's rushing numbers still weren't off the charts (64 yards on 14 carries), he was involved in the passing game.  Additionally, the Panthers are dead last against opposing running backs this year, giving up more than 17 points in all but one game (against the Redskins, so it barely counts).  In fact, in their last 5 weeks they have given up 38, 34, 35, 8 (Redskins game) and 29.  If Johnson is going to come out anytime this season, its now.  He's worth the risk.

5.  James Jones, WR Packers - ADD

As I mentioned before, the Packers receiving corps should have a great outing against an anemic Vikings secondary.  Jones' value will largely be determined by his ability to find the end zone, but in a game that could get out of hand quickly, he may be able to do that once or twice.  Especially since Minnesota's game plan will likely focus on stopping Greg Jennings.  If Jones can get open, he'll bring in the balls thrown his way.  In fact, he's caught the last 6 thrown his way over the last 3 games.  Expect Jones to be a serviceable wideout option in Week 10, and with games remaining against Tampa Bay, the New York Giants, Oakland and Kansas City, he may have good value for much of the remainder of the season.
